Tambopata Adventure 3 Days
The 3 Days Tambopata Adventure Tour is exclusively designed for those wanting to experience the best of Peruvian Amazon Rainforest in a short time. The three days Tambopata jungle adventure offers an insight to the culture and wildlife in Tambopata.
Among the most popular sites, Oxbow Lake and Macaw Clay Lick are unmissable in Tambopata National Park. The name Tambopata is a combination of two Quechua words – Tambo means “building” and pata signifies “high place”. The reserve is named after the famous Tambopata River that flows into the Peruvian Amazon from Lake Titicaca
Over 13 endangered species inhabit Tambopata. This includes jaguars, harpy eagles, giant armadillos and giant otters.

Day 1. Puerto Maldonado – Amazon Lodge – Eco Adventure
We will be picking you up from the bus terminal or Puerto Maldonado Airport and will transfer you to our office. We will then give you a short briefing on what to expect on your three days Amazon Adventure.
If you are carrying any heavy luggage, we recommend you to leave it at our office while you are on the tour.
We will then drive you in our 4X4 for an hour to the boat pier. Here we will be boarding our motorized boat to our lodge, Paradise Canopy Lodge. The hotel staff will extend a warm welcome to you.
After checking in, we will start with our first adventure in Tambopata. We will be going to the hanging high canopy bridge and zip lines. A fleet of stairs will take us to the treetop. There is a platform here which marks the start of the zip-line almost 200 metres long.
The breathtaking views are only matched by the excitement of overcoming your fears and the adrenaline that would course through you as you would leap off the platform. The platform is supported by the high security harnesses that connect us to the zip- line cable.
The 90 metres long walkway, hanging 35m above the floor, leads off this platform. It is quite a balancing act. It would take you to the platform at the start of the second zip line, at 180m.
After this, we will return to the lodge for lunch. Our chef will serve an authentic Amazonian native meal.
After lunch, we will take our kayaks to the river. Coupled with our high quality life jackets, our motor boat will be trailing to ensure that you are safe. This level one activity is relaxing and accessible for all.
We will then visit Monkey Island. Here you will witness a great diversity of monkeys. Capuchin, Tamarins and Squirrel monkeys are frequent here. We will put on a show of swinging through the treetops charging down the trunks of the large trees that form their home in order to accept food from your hand.
After this, we will return to the lodge for dinner. We will then do a short night walk to do some Caiman Spotting.
Day 2: Sandoval Lake Full Day (Exploring)
After breakfast, we will travel by boat to the control point of Tambopata National Reserved Zone. From here, we will be hiking for an hour and a half to Sandoval Lake. On our way we will be crossing immense ancient trees and entangled vines.
You will also see multihued flowers and fauna including: Giant Otters, birds, coloured butterflies, turtles, and a variety of fish. We will spend a few hours canoeing on this one of the most beautiful lakes in the region.
After exploring the lake we will have lunch in a camp at the edge of the lake. Optionally you can take a refreshing dip in the lake because the weather is very hot.
We will return to the lodge at around 05:00 PM.
Day 3: Parrots and Parakeet’s Clay Lick – Puerto Maldonado
Our third day of the Tambopata Adventure Tour begins early in the morning at 0400 AM. We will be embarking on an hour and a half boat ride to see the Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick. This is an unmissable sight in South America.
The boat ride from the lodge to Chuncho itself is interesting. You will be spotting many mammals and animals on the riverbanks, including Capybaras. They are the world’s largest rodents.
After the Tambopata Macaw Clay Lick experience, we will return to the lodge for breakfast at around 0700 AM.
We will then saunter on the shores of the lake and go for fishing. We will try to catch some piranhas and bring them back to the lodge. Our chef will prepare you lunch.
After lunch, we will check out from the lodge and take the motor boat back to Puerto Maldonado. Our representative will pick us up from the boat pier and will drive you to the airport/bus terminal with a stop at our office

We had an unforgettable 4 days experience with an excellent guide: Darwin. Everything is well organized: lodges, rubber boots ( ah you will need them…!), delicious food, experienced guide, boat trips, bus rides, animals spots….
Shortly said, it was a unique experience which i will never forget. It was the highlight of my 3-weeks journey through Peru. Being out there in the wild with nothing but nature & animals around is incredible and really intense…
Being able to explore the amazon with Abel was such a pleasure. Abel taught us so much and showed us the beauty and art that lie within the amazon. Without Abel, our exploration of the amazon would never be the same…
